Membership Benefits

Becoming a member not only demonstrates your support for the arts in the Valley, but also helps to ensure that the projects and workshops offered by Alliance of Kings' Artists continue and new projects develope.

AKA membership entitles you to other important benefits, including:
  • A 10% discount on art supplies at ArtCan Gallery and Cafe in Canning
  • One chance at winning the Great Pumpkin Mosaic (valued at approximately $5000)
  • Discounts on AKA projects and workshops
  • The right to vote at annual and special meetings
  • The opportunity to meet, network with, and learn from other artists
  • The ability to join AKA committees and/or the board of directors, thus influencing AKA programming and policies
Most importantly, becoming a paid member demonstrates support for the arts in this rich Valley community. Without the support of its community, a regional arts council will not get the ear of business, government, or news media; it will be unable to develop permanent facilities or staff; and will fail in its mandate to promote the unique cultural identity of our region.

Eligibility

Membership in the arts council is open to all interested individuals, organizations, or businesses. Since AKA was founded 10 years ago, membership has fluctuated greatly but did reach an all-time high of almost 200 members. The majority of memberships are individual, approximately 90 per cent, and the majority of these are artists. Artists of all status or stature are welcome within the council programs and committees; from students, to professionals, to passionate amateurs. Interest from the general public is critical. Membership is not a requirement to participate in most AKA programs.
